I’m married, I’m a mom, I love the Lord, I love a good adventure, and I’m living with Multiple Sclerosis. Before MS I was a very active mom and adventure enthusiast. I loved running, cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, adventure racing, rock climbing and more. I also loved being a super active hands on Mom holding PTA offices, heading committees, being team mom, class mom, teaching Sunday School, baking Christmas cookies with my kids, and more.
Since my diagnosis in March 2005 life has slowed down and looks very different. I drive my van with hand controls, use electronic devices to help me walk, use an electronic wheelchair for longer distances, and I’ve downsized into a smaller more manageable home. I’ve raised money for the MS Society, Georgia Chapter for years and they have given back to me tenfold. I’m blessed with a very supportive husband and community. I’m not much of a writer but I hope my occasional blog will help others navigating their turbulent waters. It’s my goal to share honestly and with a sense of humor and optimism.
My faith has sustained me through my journey with MS.
Psalm 107: 28-31
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds of mankind.
